Kwang Hee Park, 32, of Columbia, SC and with a hometown of Marietta, GA, passed away on Thursday, January 15, 2015. He was born April 5, 1982 in Seoul, South Korea. He is survived by his wife, Amanda Gibson Park and son, Dylan Fitzgerald Park; parents, Byung Hun Park and Soon Yeul Lee Park; brother and sister in law, Seam Park and Jennifer Shelfer of Atlanta, GA; father and mother in law, Steve and Myra Gibson, of Spartanburg, SC; brother and sister in law, Ashley and Brent Daniel, of Spartanburg, SC; a niece, Emily Daniel; and nephews, William Daniel, Ethan Daniel and Alexander Park. He earned a Bachelor of Arts and Masters degrees in Social Work and Public Administration, all from his beloved West Virginia University. He was employed as an Assistant District Director with the U.S. Department of Labor in Columbia, South Carolina, Wage and Hour Division. He courageously served a tour in Operation Iraqi Freedom with the 630th Transportation Company of the U.S. Army Reserves. Kwang loved his family, friends, and co-workers, a home-cooked Korean meal prepared by his mother, a good action movie, and was an avid sports fan, especially fond of Mountaineer football. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Wednesday, January 21, 2015, at First Presbyterian Church Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Joanne R. Hull. Visitation will follow the service in the church parlor. A private family burial, with Military Honors, will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family is at the home of Steve and Myra Gibson, 102 Carlisle Bennett Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307.
