Kirk Jones

Kirk Dudley Jones, 82, of Spartanburg SC, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, February 19, 2021. Born October 2, 1938 in Tybee Island GA, he was the son of the late Virginia Kirkpatrick Scott Jones and Dr. F. Dudley Jones, and the husband of Kathleen Druhan Hendrick Jones for 59 years. He was delivered by his father, Dr. F. Dudley Jones and baptized by his grandfather, Rev. Dr. F. Dudley Jones. Mr. Jones graduated from The Bolles School in Jacksonville Florida, attended Vanderbilt University, and graduated from Millsaps College with a BS in Chemistry. He served in the United States Marine Corps as a LCPL stationed in the Far East for three years. Mr. Jones worked in the pulp and paper industry for 47 years. He was a member of The Huguenot Society of South Carolina and The Society of Mayflower Descendants. Kirk was beloved and appreciated by all for his great wit, humor and intelligence. In addition to his wife Kathleen, he is survived by four children, Catherine Wyman Jones Conrad (David) of Spartanburg, Lisa Scott Jones Atkins (Gregory) of Spartanburg, Kirkpatrick Dudley Jones (Amanda) of Greenville SC, and Spencer Erwin Jones (Elizabeth) of Brevard, NC. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Emily Catherine Conrad (Tian Ai), Adrienne Lyndsey Atkins, Joel Chapman Atkins, Amanda Blair Jones, Indigo Watson-Jones, and Virginia Watson-Jones. Graveside interment will be 3:00 PM Tuesday, February 23, 2021 in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307, conducted by The Rev. Gordon W. G. Raynal.
