Kim Nannette Fowler McCraw died peacefully and gracefully on Tuesday, July 28, 2009, surrounded by devoted members of her family. Mrs. McCraw was born March 29, 1956. She had suffered from cancer for a number of years. At the time of her passing, she was a resident of Smith Phayer Hospice House of the Carolina Foothills. Mrs. McCraw was the daughter of James W. Fowler, Jr. and Marion Grant Fowler of John Dodd Road near the Cunningham Community in Spartanburg County. She was the wife of Teddie N. McCraw, Jr., and the loving mother of Meghan Avalon McCraw of Converse College in Spartanburg, and Mollie Margaret McCraw of Lander University in Greenwood. Mrs. McCraw had three brothers, James W. Fowler, III, Barry Stephen Fowler, and Bruce Lionel Fowler. Her family includes a special uncle, Dr. Donald Lionel Fowler, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and other caring relatives, all of whom will miss her sparkling personality, charm, and enthusiasm for life. Church services will be held in her memory and honor on Thursday, July 30, 2009, at Arcadia First Baptist Church at 3:30 p.m. Kim's family will receive relatives and friends at the Church from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.. Mrs. McCraw was a graduate of Dorman High School and attended Spartanburg Methodist College and the University of South Carolina in Columbia. She attended both Arcadia First Baptist Church and Saint Luke United Methodist Church in Spartanburg. For three decades she was active in Fowler Brothers Cleaners, a family business founded in 1937 by her grandfather, James W. Fowler, Sr. Her father is currently the President of the company, which has locations throughout Spartanburg County. The Reverend Joey Burnett, the Reverend Dr. E. Jennings Putnam, and the Reverend Richard D. Lewis will officiate at her service. Interment will be in the Fowler family plot at the Fort Prince Memorial Gardens, Fort Prince Road, Wellford, SC. Pallbearers will be nephews from both the McCraw and the Fowler families. They include Daniel Smith, Tim Smith, Ross Smith, Tim Foster, Will Fowler, Ben Fowler, and Michael Fowler.
