Kermit Lambert

Kermit Lavelle "Kurt" Lambert, 76, of 508 Mockingbird Lane, passed away on Thursday, March 11, 2010, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born September 12, 1933, in Mount Vernon, AL, he was the son of the late Kermit Lavelle and Lois Callahan Lambert and the husband of the late Myrtle Avanell Johnson Lambert. He was the retired Director of Marketing with Milliken and Company, serving from 1983-2003. A U.S. Army Veteran, he achieved the rank of Captain of Intelligence Information. He was a devoted volunteer with Mobile Meals Service and a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Spartanburg where he was a Stephens minister. He was an avid fisherman, a frequent golfer, loved travel, garden, and animals, and was an unending student of The Bible. He received his B.S. degree from the University of Alabama, another of his true passions. Survivors include two daughters, Sherree L. Sharron and her husband Byron of Lewisville, NC, and Tamee L. Markley and her husband Gary of Gaffney; four grandchildren, Christopher Baker, Zack Sharron, Chase Sharron, and Taylor Waddell; and a sister, Vonnie Lambert Spence of Satsuma, AL. Visitation will be 1:00-1:45 p.m. Sunday, March 14, 2010, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel conducted by the Rev. Susan Moorefield. Entombment with military rites will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Heritage Chapel Mausoleum. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 154 Milestone Way, Greenville, SC 29615.
