Thomas Kent Nolen, 45, of 148 Bent Tree Drive, died Tuesday, May 26, 2009, at his home. Born May 30, 1963, in Rutherfordton, NC, he was the son of Thomas M. Nolen of Boiling Springs and the late Rubye Sarratt Nolen and the wife of Sandra Lawson Nolen. A 1981 graduate of Titusville (FL) High School, he attended Boiling Springs High School and Brevard Community College, and graduated from the University of Central Florida where he was honored in the top 3rd of his class. He was an assistant manager with First Franklin Financial in Greer, a member of Beaumont Baptist Church, and attended Northbrook Baptist Church. He was an avid space program and autograph enthusiast. Surviving in addition to his father and wife is a sister, Gloria Nolen Trosper of Lenoir City, TN; and two nephews, Austin Wilson Jennings and Zachary Markeith Jennings, both of Moore. Visitation will be 7:00-9:00 p.m. Thursday, May 28, 2009, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 29, 2009, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel conducted by the Rev. Dr. Wayne Dickard and the Rev. John Cox. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 3535 Pelham Road, Suite 101, Greenville, SC 29615; or to the Spartanburg Humane Society, 150 Dexter Road, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
