Kenneth Barry Wilson, Sr., 87, of Spartanburg, SC, died Monday, April 11, 2016, at Spartanburg Medical Center. Born May 10, 1928, in Spartanburg, he was the son of the late Walter and Nellie McGuinn Wilson and husband of the late Esther Lou Ellen Ethridge Wilson for 60 years. A U. S. Army veteran of the Korean War, Mr. Wilson was a faithful member of Graham Chapel Wesleyan Church and retired from Canteen Vending Company after 30 years of service. He was known for crafting his wooden red "Prayer Works" hearts. He was the honored recipient of the 2013 Spartanburg Senior Standout Volunteer Award for his diligent dedication to the restoration and maintenance of Clifton Cemetery. Survivors include his children, Diane Dearybury (John), Barry Wilson (Kathy), Regena Garrett, David Wilson (Nancy), all of Spartanburg, SC, and Melinda Hayes (Nathan) of Nashville, TN; 17 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and sister, Joann Creel of Spartanburg, SC. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by sisters and brothers, Margaret Epton, Kathleen Stepp, Walter Wilson, Jr., Mary Frances Wilson, Earl Wilson, Carol Hogan, Arthur Wilson, and Wayne Wilson. Visitation will be 1:00-1:45 PM Thursday, April 14, 2016, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM, at the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Preston Edmonds. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Graham Wesleyan Family Life Center Building Fund, PO Box 129, Mayo, SC 29368. The family is at their respective homes.
