Kenneth Sosbee

Kenneth "Pete" Daryl Sosbee, 69, of Spartanburg, SC, went home to be with Jesus on Tuesday, April 10, 2018, at Spartanburg Medical Center. Born June 3, 1948, in Spartanburg, he was the son of the late Adam Carlton Sosbee and Allie Beach Sosbee. Mr. Sosbee enjoyed gardening and loved gospel music as well as reading the Bible. He attended Whitney Free Will Baptist Church and retired from First Baptist Church Spartanburg after 33 years of service. He was also a member of the Una Volunteer Fire Department and recipient of the 1988 Fireman of the Year Award. Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Marlene Tomas Sosbee; brother, Herman Sosbee of Pickens, SC; and sisters, Betty Butts of Arcadia, SC and Francis Christopher of Lake Greenwood, SC. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by six brothers and sisters. Visitation will be 1:00-1:45 PM Friday, April 13, 2018, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307 with funeral services following at 2:00 PM, conducted by The Rev. Chris Connor. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, PO Box 1000 Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101-9908; or Shriner's Hospital for Children, 950 West Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605.
