Kenneth Ray "Ken" Smith, 83, of 110 Summit Hills Drive, died Thursday, July 30, 2009, at his home. Born July 10, 1926, in Pauline, SC, he was the son of the late M. Dupre and Lillie Jones Smith. He was retired from Texaco Company. He was a member of Morningside Baptist Church where he was a Sunday School teacher, and was a former deacon at Morningside Baptist Church and Cedar Spring Baptist Church. He was a member of Croft Ruritan Club and a U. S. Army Veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife of sixty years, Jean Hunter Smith; a son, Phillip Smith and wife Cindy of Lexington; two grandchildren, Catherine Paige Smith of Lexington and Hunter Elizabeth Smith; two sisters, Sherrill O'Shields and Flora Morrow of Spartanburg; and a brother, J. D. Smith of Pauline. He was predeceased by a son, Kenneth Mark Smith. Visitation will be 10:30-11:45 a.m. Saturday, August 1, 2009, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 noon at the Chapel conducted by the Rev. Dr. Kirk H. Neely and the Rev. J. Michael Hensley. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
