Kenneth Purgason

Kenneth R. Purgason, 72, of Spartanburg, SC, died Saturday, February 15, 2014, at Mary Black Memorial Hospital. Born September 17, 1941, in Rhodhiss, NC, he was the son of the late Clyde W. and Ollie King Purgason. Mr. Purgason was a retired cab driver with Checker Cab Company and a Marine veteran of the Vietnam War. Surviving is the love of his life, Virginia Coggins; son, Phillip Purgason, two grandchildren; brother, David Purgason (Helen); sister, Alice Ridings (Sherman); sister-in-law, Norine Purgason; and special girls, Betty Jean Parris and Debbie Williams. He was predeceased by brothers, Marion Purgason, Larkin Purgason, and Henry Purgason. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, February 18, 2014 in Sunset Memorial Park, conducted by the Rev. Michael Stubblefield. Visitation will follow the service at the graveside.
