Kenneth Arthur Porter, 72, died Saturday, December 17, 2011, from injuries as a result of an automobile accident. Born June 22, 1939, in Atlanta, GA, he was a son of the late Arthur Newton Porter, Jr. and Hilda Mae Bates Porter. He was a graduate of Georgia Tech and a former mechanical engineer retired from Sears Roebuck and Co., and had been employed with Best Buy for 11 years. Mr. Porter was a lifetime member of the NRA, a member of the John Birch Society, Toastmasters, and Citizens for Efficient Government; was a member of the Spartanburg Republican Party and precinct manager at Holly Springs Baptist Church. He was a US Army veteran, having served in Vietnam; and was of the Christian faith. Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Jean Woolard Porter; daughters Kimberly McMillan and husband Henry of Campobello, and Judith Zschocher and husband Robert of Charlotte; granddaughters, Rebekah and Katherine McMillan, and Kimberly and Audrey Zschocher; grandsons, Thomas and Nathan McMillan, and Joshua Zschocher; a sister, Judith Ann Boling of Woodstock, GA; and a brother, Keith Porter. He was predeceased by a brother, Darrel Porter. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM on Monday, December 19, 2011, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, December 20, 2011, at Motlow Creek Baptist Church. Burial with military rites by the SC State Guard Honors Team will be in Motlow Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
