Kenneth Doan

Kenneth S. Doan, 94, of 831-B John B. White Sr. Boulevard, died Wednesday, August 5, 2009, at the Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born January 28, 1915, in Knoxville, PA, he was the son of the late Bert L. and Myrtle A. Palmer Doan. He was the husband of 21 years to Emma Schulz Jackson Doan and was first married to the late Amy Lounsbury Doan. He was retired from Ingersoll Rand in Painted Post, NY. He was a member of St. James United Methodist Church and American Legion Post 28. A U.S. Army Air Corp Veteran of World War II, he served in combat and was discharged as a Flight Officer of the 61st Bomb Squadron 39th Bombardment Group, having served in the 504th Bomb Group in the Pacific. Surviving in addition to his wife is a daughter, Kathy Sue Gerace and her husband Donald of Punta Gorda, FL; two sons, Kent Doan and his wife Ewa Peloschek of Washington DC, and C. Timothy Doan and his wife Beverly of Basking Ridge, NJ; two step-daughters, Louise Burgess and her husband Larry of Niantic, CT, and Laura Beaudoin and her husband James of Algonac, MI; a step-son, Lawrence Jackson and his wife Linda of Spring Hill, FL; eleven step-grandchildren; and sixteen step-great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by two brothers, Roscoe and Donald Doan. Visitation will be 2:00-2:45 p.m. Sunday, August 9, 2009, at St. James United Methodist Church. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 p.m. at the Church conducted by the Rev. William F. Malambri, III. Memorials may be made to St. James United Methodist Church, 213 Lanford Road, Spartanburg, SC 29301; or to the Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home, 686 Jeff Davis Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
