Kayla Padgett

Kayla Hinkle Padgett, 55, of Spartanburg, SC, died peacefully at home, in the comfort of her own bed, surrounded by her loved ones on Wednesday, December 18, 2013. Born November 28, 1958, in Havre, Montana, she was the daughter of Rudy Clarence and Ester Golie Hinkle of Spartanburg. A graduate of Dorman High School and graduating highest in her class at the Art Institute of Atlanta, Kayla won countless awards in art shows. She was a professional portrait artist and very skilled in calligraphy, watercolors, graphic arts, sculpture and ceramics. She was a member of Morningside Baptist Church, the Archeological Society, and Artist Guild. She was a cancer survivor, and part of the Garden Club at Gibbs Cancer Center, with a special gift for nurturing plants. Survivors include her forever fiancé, Kennedy Turner Moore; daughters, Shannon Schluder (Noah) and Adriane Padgett, both of Spartanburg; ex-husband, Alfred Padgett II of Spartanburg; granddaughters, Cordelia, Zelda, and Lucinda Schluder; brothers, Richard Hinkle and Bryan Hinkle, both of Spartanburg; sister, Lyndelle Hinkle of Spartanburg; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends whom she loved dearly. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Friday, December 20, 2013, at Floyd's North Church Street Chapel, 235 N. Church St., Spartanburg, SC 29306. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Saturday, December 21, 2013, at Floyd's North Church Street Chapel, by the Rev. Jack Dobbs. Burial will be in Fort Prince Memorial Gardens, 125 Fort Prince Rd., Wellford, SC 29385. Memorials may be made to Spartanburg Regional Hospice Special Needs Fund, 120 Heywood Avenue Suite 300, Spartanburg, SC 29302. The family is at the home.
