Kathy Mahaffey

Miss Kathy Mahaffey, 72, of Spartanburg, SC, died Sunday, December 4, 2022 at Spartanburg Medical Center. Born May 27, 1950 in Spartanburg, SC, she was the daughter of the late Hubert Willard and Helen Boiter Mahaffey.

Kathy first worked at Arrow Automotive in the printing department, was a former EMT with Arcadia Rescue, then retired from Spartanburg Water Company. She went on to become Fire Commissioner at Una Fire Department.

Kathy had a Christian servant’s heart, who was a selfless, loving Aunt, truly devoted to her family, and loved to spoil them all at Christmas.

Survivors include her sister, Terry Mahaffey Russell of Arcadia, SC; her niece, Jennifer Goyea (Matt) of Pauline, SC; great niece, Ava Goyea of Pauline, SC; and great nephew, Jackson Goyea of Pauline, SC. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Roger “Pete” Mahaffey.

Visitation will be 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday, December 9, 2022 at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307. A Chapel service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 10, 2022 at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel, conducted by The Rev. Dylan Styles, with the committal following in Springhill Memorial Gardens, 1101 South Alabama Avenue, Chesnee, SC 29323.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Una Community Fire Department, 1025 Hayne Street, Spartanburg, SC 29301.
