Kathryn Ellwood

Kathryn Smith Ellwood, 92, died Saturday, January 14, 2023, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home.  Born May 30, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Oliver G. and Margaret Strain Smith and widow of the late Douglas H. Ellwood Sr.

Mrs. Ellwood retired from Cryovac as a secretary and was a member of Southside Baptist Church.  She was a volunteer for the American Cancer Society for many years and The Haven and Credit Union for the City of Spartanburg.

Survivors are sons, Douglas H. Ellwood, Jr. (Martha) of Franklin, TN, and Patrick M. Ellwood (Linda Wages) of Chesnee, SC; Grandchildren, Brian Ellwood (Carleigh) of Denver, CO, David Ellwood of Greenbrier, TN, and Kristin Ellwood of Nashville, TN; a great-grandchild, Everley Ellwood of Denver, CO; Brothers, Marshall Ray Smith (Rachel) of Cowpens, and Roy “Mac” Smith (Linda) of Whitestone.  Besides her husband, Mrs. Ellwood was predeceased by a brother, Oliver G. Smith, Jr and a sister, Virginia Rhinehart.

Visitation will be Wednesday, January 18, 2023, 1:30-2:30 PM at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC, 29307.  Funeral services will follow at 3:00 PM in the chapel, conducted by The Rev. Dr. Schuyler Peterson and The Rev. Brian Redding.  Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC, 29307.
