Katherine Mccall

Katherine Alkyer Kusztos McCall, 83, of Spartanburg, died Wednesday, October 10, 2012, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center-ER. Born November 25, 1928, in Kenmore, OH, she was of Hungarian descent, the daughter of the late Frank Alkyer, Sr. and Rose Bilac Alkyer. Kathy was an active member of Anderson Mill Road Baptist Church and the Shepherd's Center, previous line dance instructor, past member of the Footloose Cloggers and Red Hat Society, and formerly employed at Butte Knit. She was a loving mother and wife who enjoyed her dog Kayla, flowers, gardening, cooking and especially baking desserts, having won Spartanburg's Apple Strudel Bake-Off Contest. She devoted her life to helping others, making a difference in all our lives. Surviving are her husband Dr. Glenn W. McCall; sister, Rose Stoll; children, Dianne Kusztos Wilson and husband Tim, John E. Kusztos and wife Stephanie, Sharon Kusztos Hodge and husband Jim, and Gregory A. Kusztos and wife Beverli; extended family member, Anna Kusztos Kovarik and husband Tibor; six grandchildren, Shawn Kusztos, Amanda Wilson Duley, Ryan Hodge, Alex , Erica, and Zachary Kusztos; four great-grandchildren, Matthew Duley, Cameron and Colton Kusztos, and Owen Hodge. Kathy was predeceased by her first husband, Elmer John Kusztos; son, Jeffrey A. Kusztos; grandson, Travis Kusztos; brothers, Frank, Alex, and Steve Alkyer; and sisters, Julia Alkyer and Mary Antal. Visitation will be 2:00-3:45 PM Saturday, October 13, 2012, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 4:00 PM, at the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Dr. D. J. Horton. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Shepherd's Center, 393 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302.
