Katherine Clary

Katherine Goforth Clary, 87, of Spartanburg, SC, died Sunday, December 4, 2016, at her home. Born September 9, 1929, in Spindale, NC, she was the daughter of the late Zenar Glenn and Lula B. White Goforth and wife for 67 years of the late Jack T. Clary. She was a lady of great faith who served the Lord with all her heart. Her selfless devotion will always be remembered by her family and friends. Mrs. Clary was a member of Southside Baptist Church where she was the pianist for the Adult II Sunday School Department and a member of the Friendship Class. A 1978 graduate of USC-Spartanburg School of Nursing, she was formerly employed with First National Bank and later as a registered nurse and volunteer for Spartanburg Medical Center. Survivors include her sons, Stanley G. Clary (Silvia) of Inman, SC and Gregory S. Clary (Donna McManus) of Charlotte, NC; 6 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; niece, Charlene Bagwell (Lynn) of Gaffney, SC; and nephew, Larry Goforth (Pat Anderson) of Spartanburg, SC. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brothers, Charles and Claude Goforth. Visitation will be 12:00-12:45 PM Thursday, December 8, 2016, at Southside Baptist Church Parlor. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 PM, at the church, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Schuyler Peterson and the Rev. Dr. Herbert C. Garrett Jr. Burial will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens, 986 Chesnee Hwy, Gaffney, SC 29341.
