Karl Robert Lundstedt

November 11, 1930 — October 7, 2023

Spartanburg

Karl Robert Lundstedt of Spartanburg, South Carolina, passed Saturday, October 7, in the presence of family after a brief illness.  He was 92.

Born in Natrona Heights, Pennsylvania, to Edwin and Vera (Anderson), the family moved to Riverton New Jersey several years later.  He attended Riverton Public School and Palmyra High School. He was a gifted four-sport letter athlete and on the 1947 championship Palmyra football team.  He was later inducted into the Palmyra High School Hall of Fame.

An avid sailor, he built his own Duster class sailboat and won a national sailing championship in 1948.  He owned several boats and competed in many Riverton Yacht Club races and regattas through the years. He enjoyed sailing on the Delaware River as well as cruising the Chesapeake Bay and also a trip up the Intracoastal waterway along the east coast.

Raising a family in Riverton, Bob was also active in the community.  As a member of the Calvary Presbyterian Church he served as treasurer and was instrumental in creating the Memorial Garden at the Church. Bob served on the Riverton Board of Education, was a little league baseball coach and active in Scouting.  A member of the Riverton Country Club and Riverton Yacht Club, he was especially proud of his work on the Yacht Club 1965 Centennial celebration.

A lifelong Phillies fan, hardly a game would go by where Bob wasn't watching or listening.

Educated at Dickinson College and Drexel University, Bob served in the Army Reserve for eight years achieving the rank of Captain.

He had a career in Purchasing and Manufacturing - working for Inductotherm Corp when they relocated to Rancocas NJ and later at Infotron Systems as Director of Manufacturing.  His career continued at Franklin Computer Corp, Datatel and RVSI.

After retiring, Bob moved to Spartanburg, South Carolina with his new wife Sandra. He became an active member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church where he was the chairperson of the 39er's and enjoyed the new fellowship.  Bob could frequently be found on the golf course with the "Seniors" at the Creek Golf Club.  Days would not be complete without watching "Wheel of Fortune" and "Jeopardy" at night. But where Bob found his greatest joy in retirement was spending time with his wife and grandkids.

Bob touched many people over the course of his life, not only through his work in the community but most importantly through his steadfast faith and the genuine love and care he showed to those around him every day.

Surviving is his wife; Sandra Semanchik Lundstedt; sons Robert Jr of Moorestown, NJ; Richard (Linda) of West Melbourne, FL; Weir of Merrimack, NH; step daughter Lisa Wright (Gary) of Gaffney; step son, Scott Skuches (Kristen) of Milford, CT; grandchildren Tiffany Johnsten, Darren Skuches (Brianna), Gary Wright (Amanda), Justin Wright, Ethan Skuches, Joshua Wright and Alyssa Cooper (Jackson); six great grandchildren; sisters Janet Haines, Betty Lou Cummings and brother Roy. He was predeceased by wife Carolyn Levering, daughter Susan Elizabeth and brother Jack.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 pm Thursday, October 12, 2023, at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 309 Fernwood Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29307 conducted by the Rev. Dale Rawlings and Paul Petersen retired Senior Pastor.  Visitation will follow in the Church fellowship hall.
