Karen Worcester

Karen Threadgill Worcester, 66, of Cocoa, FL, died Tuesday, June 16, 2015, at Wuesthoff Medical Center-Rockledge. Born March 28, 1949, in Spartanburg County, she was the daughter of the late John G. and Ella Murph Threadgill, and widow of Col. Leroy P. Worcester. Mrs. Worcester was an active Red Cross volunteer in her local community of Cocoa, FL and of the Baptist faith. Survivors include her children, Ronnel C. Benson of Moore, SC, Ella-Marie Freeman of Duncan, SC, and Michelle Renae Horton of Spartanburg, SC; five grandchildren; brothers, Joe Threadgill and John Threadgill, both of Spartanburg, SC and Charles Threadgill of Parsons, TN; and sister, Iris Hutcherson of Wellford, SC. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brothers, Zerah Threadgill, Winifred Threadgill, and Dennis Threadgill; and sisters, Winona Ruth Threadgill and Tweet Threadgill. Visitation will be 1:00-1:45 PM Saturday, June 27, 2015, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 PM, at the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Clyde Hardin. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307.
