Julia Varner

Julia West Varner, 91, of 150 Pepperidge Drive, Spartanburg, died Friday, June 24, 2011, at Valley Falls Terrace. Born October 23, 1919, in Campobello, SC, she was a daughter of the late Sorrels Franklin and Mary Alice Durham West and widow of Ralph Smith Varner. She was retired after 44 years of service as manager of Fairforest Remnant Store/Reeves Brothers and was a member of First Baptist Church of Spartanburg since 1954. Survivors include two daughters, Rita Varner Kasinow and husband Bob of Wall, NJ, and Susan Varner Page and husband Ricky of Spartanburg; four grandchildren, Julianne and Robert Kasinow and Jennifer and Matthew Page; a sister, Polly Jones of Moore, SC; and two brothers, Sam West of Spartanburg and Charner West of Campobello. Mrs. Varner was predeceased by seven sisters and brothers. The family extends special thanks to Mrs. Varner's special caregivers, Nikki Pitts, Gracie Means, and Martha Means. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Sunday, June 26, 2011, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will be 12:30 PM Monday, June 27, 2011, at the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Robert Emory, the Rev. Bill Adams, and the Rev. Gregory Dry. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to United Baptist Church Building Fund, 7319 Valley Falls Road, Spartanburg, SC 29303. The family is at the home of her daughter, Susan V.
