Julia Mahaffey

Julia Juanita Mahaffey, 82, of Spartanburg, died Saturday, November 19, 2011, at Emeritus at Skylyn Place. Born June 18, 1929, in Spartanburg, she was a daughter of the late Lewis Arthur and Lillie Gowan Mahaffey. She retired from Spartanburg County and was a lifelong member of Green Street Baptist Church, where she was a former Sunday School secretary for the Children's Department. After retirement she worked in the nursery at First Baptist Church of Spartanburg, which she dearly loved. Miss Mahaffey is survived by a brother, Donnie Mahaffey of Greer, SC, and was predeceased by three brothers, Lewis, Harry, and Jack Mahaffey, and two sisters, Evelyn Mahaffey and Margaret Calvert. Visitation will be 2:00-2:45 PM Tuesday, November 22, 2011, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 PM at the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Larry Fleming. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Green Street Baptist Church, 446 Brawley Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302.
