Julia Lawson

Julia Cherry Lawson, 103, of Spartanburg, SC, died Sunday, December 8, 2013, at her home. Born November 28, 1910, in Sumter, SC, she was the daughter of Spurgeon and Sarah Ann Burkett Cherry, and the widow of James C. Lawson of Spartanburg. Mrs. Lawson was a graduate of Sumter High School, Limestone College, and Cecil's Business College. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church, where she was a former member of the Shadetree Musicians and the Ruth L. Sunday School Class. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her sister, Frances Cherry. A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, December 11, 2013, in West Oakwood Cemetery, Oakwood Avenue, Spartanburg, SC, with The Reverend Norman L. Band officiating. Visitation will follow at the graveside. Julia's family wishes to express appreciation to the staff of Hospice Compassus-Spartanburg, especially to the chaplain, The Reverend Norman L. Band, and to Kathy Williams, and nurses for their kindness to Julia.
