Julia McDowell Huss, 78, of 217 Rivermill Court, died Friday, January 29, 2010, at her home. Born September 7, 1931, in Spartanburg, SC, she was the daughter of the late Boyd Lee McDowell and Minnie Lee Stephens Carden. She was a member of River Hills Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband of 62 years, William C. Huss; four daughters, Rhonda H. Garland (Chris) of Spartanburg, Janice H. Riddle (Johnny) of Roebuck, Susan H. Waldrop (Leonard) of Boiling Springs, and Karen H. Vickers (Michael) of Weaver, AL; eight grandchildren, Freddie M. Vickers of Atlanta, GA, Summer G. Vincent (Shawn) of Roebuck, Kiley R. Crocker (Trey) of Spartanburg, Christian L. Waldrop (Johanna) of Boiling Springs, Joshua R. Riddle (Lisa) of Lyman, Jennifer V. Boatner (Kerry) of Jacksonville, AL, W. Ryan Waldrop of Boiling Springs, and Jessie D. Vickers Newman (Eric) of Piedmont, AL; six great-grandchildren, William (Will) S. Vincent, Emily Reese Crocker, and Carson Rose Crocker, all of Spartanburg, Caleb Christian Waldrop of Boiling Springs, Ava Lynne Boatner of Jacksonville, AL, and Abbigail McKiah Newman of Piedmont, AL; and a sister, Frances Ellen M. Taylor of Jacksonville, FL. She was predeceased by a sister, Lenna Lee McCullough. Visitation will be 3:00-3:45 p.m. Monday,February 1, 2010, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 4:00 p.m. at the Chapel conducted by the Rev. C. Kent Smith. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
