Julia Lake Carter, 64, of Spartanburg, SC died Friday, April 5, 2013 at her home. Born October 31, 1948, in Spartanburg County, she was the daughter of Sarah Lee Hughes Lake and the late Edwin (Ed) Schroder Lake. Mrs. Carter was retired from Spartanburg Regional Medical Center and also worked at Sam's Wholesale Club. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. Surviving are daughter, Julia Smith of Taylors; son, Jonathan D. Lake of Clemson; domestic partner, David Nicholas of the home; and grandchildren, Megan Anne Lake, Brittney Victoria Lake, Jonathan Dean Lake, Adam Dean Lake, Justin Dean Sims, Christopher Lake Smith, and Layla Caroline Rickard; and great-grandchildren, Hayden Asher Simms and Rowan Victoria Lake. She was predeceased by daughter, Anna Caroline Lake. A private funeral service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, 415 South Pine Street, Spartanburg, 29302.
