Julia Clara McIntyre Beaty, 88, passed away on Saturday, September 6, 2014 in Spartanburg, SC. Born April 1, 1926, in Spartanburg County, to the late George E. and Clara Love McIntyre. She was married to the late Leroy Beaty on August 30, 1946. Children and Grandchildren: Two daughters, Jean Beaty Bradley of the home; Joan (Ernie) Davis of Arcadia and one son, Ted L. (Betty) Beaty; two granddaughters, Jennifer Massey (Mike) Seigler of Lyman, and Shelby Beaty of Arcadia; two grandsons, Chris (Aleshia) Massey and Micah (Stacie) Horton of Boiling Springs; five great-grandchildren: Micah Shane Horton, Jr. and Matthew Spencer Horton, A. J. Seigler, Carlin Shea Massey and Kenna Sloane Massey; and a number of step-grandchildren; special "daughter", Barbara (Mike) Morris of Campobello; along with a number of nieces and nephews. Julia had a very busy and fulfilling life with many activities, which include being employed with Mayfair Mills for 44 years, a lifelong member of Arcadia First Baptist Church, a member of American Legion Post 28 Ladies Auxiliary, lifetime member of Arcadia Elementary School PTA, former member of Arcadia Rescue Squad and Ladies Auxiliary, former member of the Spartanburg County Wide Ladies Auxiliary. She graduated from Fairforest High School in 1944. She absolutely loved the American Legion Post 28 baseball, and was an avid basketball fan and the Atlanta Braves. The first recipient of the Leroy Beaty Award for service to Spartanburg County Rescue Squad. Survived by her brother, John McIntyre of Easley; George "Buck" (Emily) McIntyre; Conley (Joyce) McIntyre; sisters Sue Hunter and Virl Dearbury of Spartanburg, and Katie Haulbrook of Summerville; special sisters-in-law, Ruby McIntyre and Margaret Beaty. She was predeceased by her step-mother, Janie McIntyre, brothers, Claude and Richard McIntyre; step-sister, Doris Taylor Martin; step-brother, Eddie Roberts; and great-grandson, Alex Seigler. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM, Monday, September 8, 2014 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Shawn Shipman and the Rev. Kenneth Cash. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alexander Lee Seigler Education Fund, c/o Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System Foundation, 101 E.
