Judy Arthur Willis, beloved wife, mother, gigi, and sister, passed away on Friday, November 10, 2023, at the age of 75. She was born on April 9, 1948, in Spartanburg, South Carolina, to parents, Joseph Thomas Arthur and Mary Cannady Arthur.
Judy's life was filled with dedication and service to others. She began her career working at the Department of Social Services before embarking on a new journey at Roebuck Elementary School. For almost two decades, Judy shared her passion with countless students, leaving an indelible mark on their lives.
Outside of her professional life, Judy found immense joy in her role as a wife, mother, and gigi. She was married to Perry "Dan" Willis for 54 years, a testament to the unwavering love and commitment they shared. Together they built a strong and loving family characterized by tight bonds and cherished memories.
Judy's devotion knew no bounds when it came to her son, Adam and his wife, Morgan, whom she adored. Her two granddaughters, Riley and Laney, held a special place in her heart. Judy's face would light up with joy whenever she was in their presence. She doted on them with unconditional love and taught them invaluable life lessons that will resonate throughout their lives. In addition to her immediate family, Judy cherished the love and support of her sister, Joan Arthur Penn and Joan's husband, James. The bond between these siblings remained unbreakable throughout the years, and they created countless lasting memories that will be cherished forever.
Judy had an infectious personality that radiated warmth and happiness wherever she went. Her loved ones often described her as having a beautiful "sunshine" personality that brought joy to all who knew her. Judy's positive outlook on life was truly inspiring, and she never failed to uplift the spirits of those around her.
Aside from her dedication to her family and career, Judy had a variety of interests and hobbies. She loved nothing more than traveling to the beach and the mountains, immersing herself in the beauty of nature. Furthermore, Judy was an excellent cook, and her culinary skills were renowned among family and friends. She found immense joy in preparing meals for her loved ones, always ensuring that no one left her table hungry.
Judy leaves behind an incredible legacy of love, laughter, and kindness. Her warm presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Although our hearts are heavy with grief, let us celebrate the remarkable life she lived and find solace in the precious memories she has left behind.
The visitation to honor Judy's life will take place on Thursday, November 16, 2023, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel in Spartanburg. It will begin at 12:30 PM and conclude at 1:45 PM. Following the visitation, a graveside service will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens at 2:00 PM. Rev. Monty King will officiate.
Memorials may be made in Judy's memory to the charity of one's choice.
