Judy Gilbert

Judith Ann Carr Gilbert, 74, of Spartanburg, SC, died Friday, August 12, 2016, at her home. Born February 5, 1942, in Clifton, SC, she was the daughter of the late Charlie Gaston Carr and Ida Mae Adair Carr Suttles and stepdaughter of the late Leroy Hunter Suttles. Judy, as she was known, graduated as salutatorian of Cowpens High School (1960) and later went to Cecil's Business College. She became a Certified Medical Assistant working at Spartanburg Regional Outpatient Clinic, the practice of Dr. Tiller, Dr. Keith, Dr. Henderson, and Dr. McCarthy, as well as Orthopedic Associates, Surgical Associates and Cardio-Medical Associates with Dr. Ronald Littlefield. Even upon retirement, she continued to work part-time assisting Dr. Littlefield. Judy was an incredible baker and for a number of years had a cake decorating business. Her hobbies included cross-stitching, cooking, and spending time with her grandchildren. Judy was a member of Beaumont Baptist Church Survivors include her devoted husband of nearly 49 years, Woodrow Pinkney Gilbert; two sons, Mark Christopher Gilbert (Toni) of Duncan, SC and Todd Jason Gilbert (Michael) of New York, NY; two granddaughters, Rachel Erin Gilbert and Katelyn Elizabeth Gilbert; one sister, Deborah Lynn Suttles Gilbert (Danny); sister-in-law, Betty Staton Carr (married to her late brother, Charles Everett Carr); numerous nieces and nephews; and many kitties that will miss her greatly. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Sunday, August 14, 2016, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Monday, August 15, 2016, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, by the Rev. John Cox and the Rev. Rupert Guest. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park, 1955 Cannons Campground Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Beaumont Baptist Church Window Replacement Fund, 945 Beaumont Avenue, Spartanburg, SC 29303. The family is at the home of Woodrow Gilbert.
