Juanita Sawyer Dillard, 91, of Spartanburg, SC died Friday, September 30, 2022. Born February 6, 1931 in Spartanburg, she was the daughter of the late Charles Coleman and Lillie Johnson Sawyer, and wife of the late M. Eugene “Snookie” Dillard for 52 years.
Juanita retired from the Life of Georgia Insurance Company where she worked as a secretary. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church where she participated in the United Methodist Women, Paul Morris Sunday School Class, a member of the Juanita Waring Circle, and sang in the choir for many years. She was best known for expressing her love through baking. She made more cakes than we could even count, and her family couldn’t wait to get her “Party Mix” at Christmas.
Survivors include her daughters, Leslie Traxler (David) and Shannon Lewis (Gary), both of Spartanburg; grandchildren, Mary Winston Traxler Brown (Zak), Tyler Traxler, Garrett Traxler, Savanna Lewis and Emma Lewis; brother in law, Richard Dobbins; sisters in law, Mary Sawyer and Linda Sawyer; and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her siblings, Edythe Hope, James Sawyer, Jack Sawyer, Gwen Stephens, Dan Sawyer, Margie Dobbins and Jerry Sawyer.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at Trinity United Methodist Church, 626 Norwood St, Spartanburg, SC 29302. A funeral service will follow at 3:30 PM, conducted by the Rev. Michelle Cockcroft. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
