Juanita Wood

January 29, 1924 — September 8, 2015

Juanita J. Wood, 91, of Spartanburg, SC, died Tuesday, September 8, 2015, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born January 29, 1924, in Spartanburg, she was the daughter of the late Floyd Jessy Allen and Bertha Marylee Connor Allen and the widow of Glenn P. Wood. Mrs. Wood was a member of Green Street Baptist Church. She retired from Converse College after 30 years of service as head of post office services. Survivors include her daughter, Amanda Pettit of Spartanburg, SC; granddaughter, Angela Dawn Harris of Spartanburg, SC; three great-grandchildren, Christian Harris, Olivia Harris, and Eli Harris; and a special nephew, Robert Edgins of Spartanburg, SC. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by seven brothers and sisters. Visitation will be 3:00-4:00 PM Friday, September 11, 2015, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. A graveside service will follow at 4:30 PM in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307, conducted by the Rev. Keith Phillips. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Refuge Ministry of First Baptist Spartanburg, 250 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29306.
