Juanita Hicks Rainey, 91, of Spartanburg, SC died Saturday, January 26, 2013 at Hospice House of the Carolina Foothills. Born October 22, 1921, in Iva, SC, she was the daughter of the late John Walter and Nettie Patterson Hicks and wife of the late Clarence Wesley Rainey. She formerly worked with Farmer's Home Administration and the Social Security Administration. She was a member of Spartanburg Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, and the Juanita Rainey Circle. Surviving are sons, John Wesley Rainey of Spartanburg and Perry R. Rainey (Cindy) of Lexington, SC; and grandsons, Cameron Rainey and Trip Rainey both of Lexington, SC. She was predeceased by brothers, Eb H. Hicks and Ralph Hicks; and sister, Willie H. Gray. Visitation will be 10:00-10:45 AM Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at Spartanburg Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church. Funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM, conducted by the Rev. Peter A. Waid. Entombment will follow at 2:30 PM in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Anderson, SC. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Spartanburg Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, 1801 Skylyn Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29307, or World Witness, 1 Cleveland Street, Suite 22, Greenville, SC 29601, or Essie Brown Rainey Scholarship Fund, Anderson University, 316 Boulevard, Anderson, SC 29621.
