Juanita Payne

Juanita Cooksey Payne, 92, of Spartanburg, SC died Sunday, September 8, 2013, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born February 3, 1921, in Spartanburg, she was the daughter of the late B. V. and Mary Gillespie Cooksey and was the widow of James Lamar Payne. She was first married to the late Marvin (Bill) Petty. She was a graduate of Spartanburg High School and continued her education at Robinson Business College and was a retired legal secretary after 30 years of service. She was a member of United Baptist Church. Survivors include a son, Jerry Don Petty; three grandchildren, Donna Paxton, Janet Cashwell and Chuck Petty; and two great-grandchildren, all of Spartanburg. Special thanks to her wonderful caregivers, Peggy Ramirez and Sharon Canipe, Hospice nurses, and Rosa Gardner. She is the last surviving member of her immediate family.
