Joyce Morgan

Joyce Johnson Morgan, 73, of Spartanburg, SC, died Saturday, August 13, 2016, at Spartanburg Medical Center. Born June 22, 1943, in Newnan, GA, she was the daughter of the late Emmett Reuben and Myrle Adams Johnson. A graduate of Auburn University, Mrs. Morgan was an Elementary School teacher and served as Children's Ministry Director and Weekday Preschool Director at First Baptist Church Spartanburg. She was a member of First Baptist Church Spartanburg, the Fellowship Sunday School Class, and also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Survivors include her husband of 45 years, Rev. Robert C. Morgan of the home; daughter, Christi Morgan Shinn (Lee) of Moore, SC; son, Dr. Robert J. Morgan (Stephanie) of Kannapolis, NC; grandchildren, Morgan Shinn, Jackson Shinn, Emma Shinn, Sarah Shinn, Madelyn Morgan, and Piper Morgan; and brother, Roger Johnson (Jane) of Newnan, GA. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two brothers, Royce Johnson and Ronnie Johnson. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Monday, August 15, 2016, at First Baptist Church Spartanburg, 250 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29306. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Tuesday, August 16, 2016, at First Baptist Church Spartanburg, by the Rev. Dr. Donald J. Wilton and the Rev. Dr. Kirk H. Neely. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307, with the Rev. Dr. Kirk H. Neely and the Rev. Dr. Alastair C. Walker officiating. Honorary escort will be members of the Fellowship Sunday School Class and the Birthday Group.
