Joyce Elaine McCarter "Red" McGill, 78, of Spartanburg, SC, died Friday, April 15, 2016, at Spartanburg Medical Center. Born May 3, 1937, in Spartanburg County, she was the daughter of the late Warren Debbs McCarter and Venie Poteat McCarter and widow of Joseph "Joe" Bruce McGill. A loving wife, mother, and grandmother, Mrs. McGill had a servant's heart, caring for many friends and family during her life. She was a member of Cherokee Springs Baptist Church where she was a former Sunday School teacher. She was also a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary with Cherokee Springs Fire Department and a graduate of Boiling Springs High School. Survivors include her sons, Rocky Bruce McGill (Cindy Lynn), Joseph Rex McGill, and Rodney Warren McGill (Regina Bailey), all of Chesnee, SC; granddaughters, Corey, Kayla, Katelyn, and Caroline McGill; grandsons, Heath, Carter, Nicholas, and Kenny McGill; one brother, Joe McCarter (Ozelle) of Boiling Springs, SC; two sisters, Martha "Mott" Fortner (Jack) and Miriam Morgan (Jim), all of Chesnee, SC; and sister-in-law, Karen McCarter of Boiling Springs, SC. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a daughter, Rhonda Joyce McGill; daughter-in-law, Nicole Heath McGill; sister, Carolyn Horton; and brother, Roger McCarter. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Sunday, April 17, 2016, at Cherokee Springs Baptist Church. Funeral services will be conducted at 5:00 PM Monday, April 18, 2016, at Cherokee Springs Baptist Church, by the Rev. Michael Boyter and the Rev. Ty Childers. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers are Rocky McGill, Rex McGill, Rodney McGill, Heath McGill, Carter McGill, Kenny McGill, Nicholas McGill, Joe McCarter, William Floyd, Johnny Dunn, Jim Morgan, and Jack Fortner.
