Joyce Lockman Hunt, 92, of Spartanburg, SC, passed away into eternal rest on Monday, June 6, 2016, at her home surrounded by her family. Joyce was born November 7, 1923, in Spartanburg, SC, to the late Alonzo and Elsie Lockman. Joyce grew up in Spartanburg and graduated from Spartanburg High School where she was voted "cutest". Joyce lived up to that honor as she loved to laugh and make others laugh. She worked at Wofford College while her husband, Bob Hunt, played football there. They had two children, Bobby and Nene, and spent the next 65 years together. Joyce will be remembered affectionately as "TooToo" or "Tootie" by all who knew her well. She was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She was selfless, generous and loving and had an unshakeable, never give up attitude, no matter what life offered. She devoted her life to her husband who became ill with Parkinson's for 10 years. During that time, she was admired for her patience, loving ways and kindness. Joyce was a "prayer warrior" for everyone, whether she knew you or not. Her love and faith in God was an example to all of us. She will be remembered as a "sweet, faithful, lovely, lady." Joyce and Bob were members of Covenant Presbyterian Church where they raised their family and worked faithfully for their church. They joined Westminster Presbyterian later in life. Joyce is survived by her two children, Robert "Bobby" Tatlow Hunt, Jr. (Janet) and Nene Hunt Hubbard (Scott); grandchildren, Jennifer Hunt Coleman (Graham), Kathryn Hunt, and Austin Hubbard; great-grandchildren, Hunter, Hollis, and Rawlins Tatlow Coleman; and a niece, Jody Thomas Henderson. She was predeceased by her husband, Bob Hunt; and sisters, Wilma L. Gosnell, Betty L. Thomas, and Sarah L. Yesbik. Our family would like to thank all of "Miss Joyce's" caregivers, Sharron Durrah, Robin Campbell, Mia Pilgrim, Mary Harris, JoAnn Brown, and all the other lovely ladies that graciously gave their love, prayers, kindness and time. We are forever grateful for the excellent care they provided. Our many thanks to Spartanburg Regional Hospice for their loving support and care and especially to her physical therapists, Heth and Jill Jennings. A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 3:00 PM Thursday, June 9, 2016, in the sanctuary of Westminster Presbyterian Church, officiated by the Rev. Dr. Paul M. Petersen. Visitation will follow at the church. A private burial will be held prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Westminster Day School, 309 Fernwood Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29307; or to a charity of one's choice. The family is at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Nene and Scott Hubbard, 412 Mustang Drive, Spartanburg, SC.
