Joyce Guyton

Joyce Burnett Guyton, 79, of Pacolet, SC, died Tuesday, September 29, 2015, at Spartanburg Medical Center. Born May 10, 1936 in Rhodhiss, NC, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Willie Mae Bowen Burnett and widow of James Guyton. Mrs. Guyton was a former manager at Grace, Inc. and a member of Tate Memorial Baptist Church. Survivors include her son, Joseph "Joe" Guyton of Pacolet, SC; granddaughter, Victoria Kaitlin Cook of Pacolet, SC; brother, Robin Burgess of Gainesville, GA; nephew, Joshua Neal Burgess; niece, Mary Beth Cartee of Pacolet, SC; cousins, Harriett Katarski of Longmeadow, MA, Scottie Bowen of Bristol, TN, and Georgia Sutton; and caregiver, Johanna M. Cook (Brian) of Pacolet, SC. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a sister, Shirley Foster. Visitation will be 1:00-2:00 PM Monday, October 5, 2015, at Floyd's Pacolet Chapel, 141 Memorial Drive, Pacolet, SC 29372, with services following at 2:30 PM, at the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Ralph Jett and Mr. John Arthur Fowler. Burial will be in Pacolet Memorial Gardens, 141 Memorial Drive, Pacolet, SC 29372. The family will gather at the home of Joe Guyton at 4:00 PM following the services. Memorials may be made to the Spartanburg Humane Society, 150 Dexter Road, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
