Joyce Bowers Brown, 84, of Spartanburg, SC died Monday, September 27, 2021 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born October 22, 1936, she was the daughter of the late John Miles and Etrulia Hughes Bowers, and the wife of the late Hoyle P. Brown, Jr.

Joyce was a retired teacher assistant at Fairforest Elementary. She was a member of First Baptist Spartanburg.

Survivors include her brothers, Anthony M. Bowers (Carol) of Raleigh, NC, Denny S. Bowers (Peggy) of Spartanburg, SC, her stepsons, Dennis Brown of Chesnee, SC and David Brown (Cathy) of Spartanburg, SC, her step grandchildren, Austin Brown (Natalie), Tyler Brown, Alyssa Brown and Samantha Doser (Josh), her step great-grandson, Jackson Dosher, and a step great granddaughter, Raleigh Brown, and special niece, The Rev. Amy Bowers Heit of Durham, NC. She was predeceased by a step grandson, Aaron Brown.

A Graveside service will be 1:00 PM Thursday, September 30, 2021 in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307, conducted by The Rev. David Ervin. Visitation will follow at the graveside.

The family request that those attending the services to wear a mask.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home, 686 Jeff Davis Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
