Joy Hodge

Joy Ann Wilson Hodge, 79, of Pacolet, wife of the late Olin T. Hodge, died Tuesday, October 11, 2011. Born May 8, 1932, in Greenwood, she was the daughter of the late L. D. and Sue Land Wilson. Joy graduated from Greenwood High School, Spartanburg General Hospital School of Nursing in 1954, and later attended USC-Columbia to receive her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. She also attended the University of NC, receiving her degree in Public Health. She worked for Spartanburg County Health Department for 28 years and retired there, while working in various areas of public health. She was a dedicated nurse and loved people. Mrs. Hodge was a member of Montgomery Memorial United Methodist Church and a member of the Spartanburg General Hospital Alumni Association. She is survived by four children, Mike Hodge (Carolyn), Pam Hodge Sinclair (Don), Tom Hodge (Nell), and John Hodge (Peggy); seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Dolly Evatt of Anderson; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one brother, Hugh Wilson. The family will receive friends 2:00-2:45 PM Thursday, October 13, 2011, at Floyd's Pacolet Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 PM, in the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Kelly Gallamore. Burial will be in Pacolet Memorial Gardens.
