Joseph Williams

August 26, 1964 — July 23, 2016

Joseph D. "Jake" Williams, 51, of Summerville, SC entered into eternal rest July 23, 2016. Jake was born August 26, 1964 in Spartanburg, SC. He was the son of Jarvis "Joe" Williams and the late Betty Williams of Hanahan, SC. Jake is also survived by a brother: Kerry Williams and his wife, Helen, of Davidson, NC along with their children Kelly, Scott, Greg, Kyle, and Christopher "Kit". He is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins as well as an extensive "family of friends". Jake was a member of Highland Park Baptist Church in Hanahan. He graduated from Hanahan High School and went on to study at the University of South Carolina and the College of the Air Force, earning a degree in Applied Science in Aviation Operations. Jake was a veteran of Desert Storm and was a member of the local VFW. He served in the US Air Force and US Air Force Reserves, concluding his service in the 300th MAS and 701st MAS of the 315th Military Airlift Wing at Joint Base Charleston. Jake loved flying and the camaraderie and brotherhood of those he had flown with over the years. He continued to pursue his love in subsequent roles with Kaletta Air, Boeing and Aerotech. Jake loved his family, his friends, and his country. He was always eager to share his fervent patriotism and strongly held political beliefs with those willing, and sometimes less willing, to listen. Jake was also an avid hunter, boater and outdoorsman and was truly at home in the "Lowcountry". Jake touched the lives and hearts of so many people. His infectious laugh, his joy of life, his unique ability to become a friend for life at the drop of a hat, and his uncanny ability to instantaneously give you a truly fitting nickname the second he met you - and one that would stick with you for the rest of your life! But most importantly, Jake had the biggest heart, unbounded love and commitment to his friends, and the willingness to do anything in the world for them. All who knew Jake were forever changed by the impact he had on their lives and are truly blessed to have him watching over them today. He will be missed by all.
