Joseph Rice

Joe has gone home. Joseph Howard Rice, 88, of Spartanburg, SC, went home to be with his Lord on Monday, July 22, 2013, at his residence. Born April 9, 1925, in Spartanburg, SC, he was the son of the late Paul B. and Molly A. Allen Rice. A U. S. Army veteran of the Korean War, Mr. Rice was retired from Flavor Rich Dairies after 28 years of service. He was a member of Temple Independent Methodist Church. Surviving is his beloved wife of 54 years, Laura Christine Greer Rice; son, Dr. Jeff Howard Rice of Spartanburg, SC; sister, Dot Gilbert of Spartanburg, SC; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by four brothers, Jay Paul Rice, Frank Rice, Bill Rice, and Clyde Rice. A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Thursday, July 25, 2013, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, by the Rev. Dr. Jeff Rice and the Rev. Monte Guffy. Visitation will follow at the graveside. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 154 Milestone Way, Greenville, SC 29615. The family is at their respective homes.
