Joseph Rankin

Joseph Earl Rankin, 65, of Spartanburg, died Monday, December 19, 2011, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born January 13, 1946, in Spartanburg, he was the son of the late Clay William and Nellie Mae Willard Rankin. Mr. Rankin was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force, a graduate of Fairforest High School and Spartanburg Community College. He enjoyed his occupation as an oncology, general x-ray, and Heart Center technologist, was a member of ARRT-The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, and the South Carolina Radiologic Society. He was of the Church of God faith. Survivors include his sisters, Barbara Peel and husband Robert L. of Spartanburg, and Margaret Montjoy and husband Melvin of Roebuck; nieces, Susan Hollingsworth of Spartanburg and Renee Dunaway of Greer; nephew, Paul Rainwater of Union; great nieces and nephews, Evans and Thomas Hollingsworth, Caitlyn Ann, Philip, and Patrick Rainwater. He was predeceased by his brothers, Richard Rankin and William M. Rankin. A graveside service will be conducted at 12:00 noon Thursday, December 22, 2011, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, by Pastor Norman L. Band.
