Joseph Peter Matuza, 96, of Chesnee, died Saturday, December 4, 2010 at Hospice House of the Carolina Foot Hills. Born March 1, 1914 in Hanover Township, PA, he was the son of the late Joseph Peter Matuza, Sr. and Mary Bublis Matuza and husband of the late Anna Helen Semanek Matuza. He was retired from Anheuser-Busch Brewing Company in Newark, NJ and was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. Survivors include two daughters, Ann Marie Jones of Chesnee,SC and Virginia (Ralph) J. Hill of Toano, VA; three grandchildren, Carie Hill of Fairfax, VA, Randall (Amy) Hill of Ark, VA, and Brad (Summer) Jones of Chesnee, SC; four great-grandchildren, Lauren Elizabeth Hill, Matthew Thomas Hill, and Carter Joseph Hill all of Ark, VA, and Ethan William Jones of Chesnee, SC and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Stephens of Chesnee, SC. He was predeceased by a sister, Isabel Matuza, and three brothers, Frank, Edward, and Albert Matuza. A Rosary Service will be held at 6:30 PM Monday, December 6, 2010 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Visitation will follow the Rosary Service until 8:30 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, conducted by the Rev. Arthur Przywara. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church Building Fund, 161 North Dean Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302 or Hospice House of Carolina Foothills, 260 Fairwinds Road, Landrum, SC 29356.
