Joseph William Klim, 84, of 295 East Pearl Street, died Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at White Oak Manor. Born February 14, 1926 in Westfield, MA, he was the son of the late Anthony Joseph and Anna Tomlain Klim and the husband of Mary Teresa Hughes Klim of Spartanburg. A graduate of the University of Georgia and Woodrow Wilson School of Law, he was employed by Armco Steel Corporation, J. P. Stevens Company, the Spartanburg Magistrates Office, and was married to a co-founder of Growing Years Preschool. He served two tours of duty in World War II as a Staff Sergeant in the Army Air Corps 757th Bomber Squadron, flying B-24 Bombers. Mr. Klim was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. Survivors include his children, Mary Klim Wilborn (Andrew N. Poliakoff), Teresa Klim Ellis (Donald T. Ellis) Joseph Anthony Klim (Paula S. Klim), Patrick William Klim (late Melissa S. Klim), Michael Christopher Klim (Keli M. Klim), and Kristina Klim Holler (John M. Holler); sister, Jane Klim Hughes; sister-in-law, Patsy Klim; grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth W. Rowell (Reed H. Rowell), Mamie Kathryn Wilborn, Shannon Ellis-Bowman (Aaron Bowman), Matthew Thomas Ellis (Traci Ellis), Marianna Ellis, Dr. Verna Kale (Dr. Steele Nowlin), Clayton Kale (Melissa K. Kale), Teresa Michelle Klim, Christopher Martin Klim, John McCutchen Holler, Jr., and Patrick Hughes Holler; great-grandchildren, Anne Elise Ellis, Ian Matthew Ellis, Keaton William Rowell, Betty Teresa Nowlin, and Gretchen Monroe Kale; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three sisters, Ann Klim Kerr and her husband John, Mary Klim Gaddy and her husband Guy, and Theodora Klim Alfsen and her husband, Ray; two brothers, Rufi Joseph Klim and Henry Lawrence Klim and his wife Edna Loree Putman Klim. Visitation will be 12:30-1:45 PM Friday, August 6, 2010 in the Parrish Life Center of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 2:00 PM at the Church, conducted by Fr. Timothy Gahan. Burial with military honors by the South Carolina Army National Guard will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
