Joseph Brown, Jr.

Joseph Edwin Brown, Jr., 90, of Spartanburg, SC, died Sunday, December 16, 2018, at Piedmont Medical Center-Rock Hill. Born January 17, 1928, in Winston-Salem, NC, he was the son of the late Joseph Edwin Brown, Sr. and Addie Mae Bell Brown. A U. S. Navy veteran, Mr. Brown retired in 1977 after 30 years having served in World War II, the Korean War, and two tours of duty in Vietnam. He was a former realtor and owner of The Simple Simon for 13 years. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church and the Senior Men's Class. Survivors include his wife, Frances Anne Hammett Brown; children, Joseph Edwin Brown III of Jacksonville, FL, David Alan Brown, Sr. (Teresa) and Lynda Anne Brown Pearson (Gary), all of Spartanburg, SC; grandchildren, Amber Palm, Christopher Pearson, Vera Anne Brown, David Alan Brown, Jr., and Benjamin Corey Brown, Sr.; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Vivian and Carolyn; and brother, Bob. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a grandson, Curtis Brown. Visitation will be 2:00-2:45 PM Thursday, December 20, 2018, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel with funeral services following at 3:00 PM, conducted by The Rev. Sal Barone. Burial, with military honors, will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307.
