Joseph Franklin Balentine, 49, of 545 Nazareth Church Road, died Wednesday, August 4, 2010 after a sudden illness. Born October 2, 1960 in Spartanburg, he was the son of Linda Gail Hodge Balentine of Moore and the late Franklin Roosevelt Balentine and the husband of Wendy Morris Balentine. He was foreman with Converse Bus Shop and in 2006 received America's Best School Bus Inspector award. He enjoyed NASCAR, history, the Bible, and was of the Baptist faith. In addition to his mother and wife, survivors include a daughter, Jessica Balentine of Spartanburg; a step daughter, Jessica Morris of the home; a step son, Jordan Morris and wife Ashlee of Conyers, GA; two sisters, Lynn Yarbrough and husband Greg of Elberton, GA and Susan Smith and husband Barry of Moore; a nephew, Ben Yarbrough of Elberton, GA; a niece, Amanda Capps of Moore; and special friend, Midnight. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, August 6, 2010 at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, conducted by the Rev. Stephen Johnson. The family is at the home.
