Johnny Parks

Johnny Edward Parks, 85, of Spartanburg, SC, died Saturday, December 9, 2017 at White Oak at North Grove. Born February 14, 1932 in Spartanburg, SC, he was the son of the late Claude Allen Parks and Lila Moon Parks Brooks Whitt and the widower of Shirley Seay Parks. As a U.S. Marine Corp veteran, Mr. Parks served in the Korean War. He graduated from Fairforest High School in 1950, and then from Cecil's Business College, then retired with Spartan Mills. Johnny was an active member of Spartanburg First Baptist Church. As a member of North Spartanburg Rotary Club with over 36 years of perfect attendance, he was past president of the club and a Paul Harris Fellow. He was a Spartanburg Table Tennis Champion in the early sixties, whom also enjoyed golfing, dancing, and was an avid fan of all sports. Survivors include his step brothers, David and Jerry Brooks, 18 nieces, and nephews that he dearly loved. He is the last member of his immediate family, being predeceased by his brother, Joe Allen Parks, and four step brothers. Visitation will be 1:00 - 1:45 PM, Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral service will be at 2:00 PM at the chapel, conducted by the Rev. Robert Morgan and the Rev. Sal Barone.
