Johnny Fowler

Johnny Fowler, 79, of Converse, SC, passed away on Monday, May 2, 2022 at his home. Johnny was born in 1942 in Converse to the late Clara and John Fowler.

Johnny graduated from USC In 1964 with a degree in Business Administration. While in college, he met the love of his life, Elaine Eaker, and they married in 1964. After graduating college, he started a business, Fowler’s Garage, where he served the community for many years. In addition, he started a second business, Regional Self Storage, in Cowpens, which he owned until retirement.

Johnny was a member of Converse Baptist Church. He had a calm demeanor, a high intelligence and took great enjoyment and pleasure in solving problems. He was kind with a quick and clever sense of humor and was always available to help with a problem or a repair.

He was also a small airplane pilot and spent many happy hours in the air and flying his family back and forth to Columbia and Charleston during his children’s college years. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years, Elaine, his two children, Lisa Ellsworth (Jerry), and Dr. John Brian Fowler (Teresa), all of Spartanburg, SC, three grandchildren, Alexandria Ellsworth, Oliva Fowler and Zane Fowler, and his brother, Mark Fowler. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Sylvia.

Private services will be held.

The family is at the home.
