Johnny "Bugg" Dewayne Byars, 46, of Spartanburg, SC, died Saturday, October 14, 2017, at his home. Born December 8, 1970, in Greenville, SC, he was the son of Johnny Byars (Deb) of Spartanburg, SC and the late Sandra Jean Worthy Byars. An avid golfer and Clemson fan, Mr. Byars coached and umpired Little League and enjoyed playing softball with numerous teams. He attended First Baptist Church of Spartanburg, was a graduate of Dorman High School and was employed with ProSource. In addition to his father and stepmother, survivors include his wife of 21 years, Shawn Hunt Byars and canine companion, Sadie; children, Megan Williamson , Scarlett Byars, and Chandler Byars, all of Spartanburg, SC; three grandchildren, Caleb, Avery, Bristol Williamson, and granddog, Wyatt; a number of brothers and sisters as well as nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 4:00-6:00 PM Thursday, October 19, 2017, at Emmanuel Baptist Church. A memorial service honoring his life will follow at 6:00 PM, at the church, conducted by the Rev. Frankie Taylor. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church Building Fund, 3000 Stone Station Rd., Roebuck, SC 29376.
