John Willis

John Carroll "Ikey" Willis, 83, of Spartanburg, SC, died Monday, July 4, 2016, at his home. Born February 28, 1933, in Spartanburg, he was the son of the late Elmer and Mable Rhinehart Willis. A U. S. Army veteran, Mr. Willis loved to go deep sea fishing and also enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of Converse Baptist Church and retired from Spartanburg Steel Products. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, JoAnne Mathis Willis; daughter, Rene Greene (Kenneth) of Spartanburg, SC; son, Terry Willis of North Myrtle Beach, SC; grandchildren, Ashton, Tiffany, Mason, and Kennedi; brother, James Willis (Poppy) of Statesville, NC; sisters, Doris Cox (Rev. Kenneth Cox) of Startex, SC and Lynn Smith (Danny) of Pacolet, SC; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by sisters, Mary Mahaffe and Kay Motts. A graveside service will be conducted at 10:00 AM Saturday, July 9, 2016, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307, by the Rev. Tommy Turner and the Rev. Eddie Willis. Visitation will follow at the graveside. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Piedmont Hospice, 209A Riverside Court, Greer, SC 29650.
