John Williams

October 15, 1961 — June 22, 2014

John Calvin Williams II, 52, of Pacolet, SC, died Sunday, June 22, 2014, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born October 15, 1961, he was the son of the late John Calvin Williams and Sara Ruth Williams. A loving husband and father, Mr. Williams was a member of Pacolet United Methodist Church and loved his occupation as electrical superintendent for Gaffney Board of Public Works. He was a graduate of Wofford College, where he also played football, and Broome High School. He was an outdoorsman, an avid hunter, and loved animals. Surviving are his cherished wife of 23 years, Deborah Hayes Williams; sons, John Calvin Williams III "Tripp" and Austin Hayes Williams of the home; brother, David Alexander Williams (Laura) of Atlanta, GA; sister, Sally Williams Hursey (Hugh) of Landrum, SC; nieces and nephews, Sarah Neale Williams, Kelley Williams Wright, Alex Williams, and John White Campbell III; and his beloved pets, Jackson, Joe, and J. D. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Ralph McDowell Williams. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday, June 26, 2014, at Floyd's Pacolet Chapel, 141 Memorial Drive, Pacolet, SC 29372. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Friday, June 27, 2014, at Pacolet United Methodist Church by the Rev. Tommy Hill. Burial will be in Pacolet Methodist Cemetery, Hillbrook Circle, Pacolet, SC. Honorary escort and active pallbearers are co-workers with Gaffney Board of Public Works Electrical Department. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pacolet United Methodist Church, 7060 South Pine Street, Pacolet, SC 29372; or Spartanburg Humane Society, 150 Dexter Road, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
