John Reid

February 10, 1922 — December 17, 2012

John Earl Reid, 90, of Spartanburg, died Monday, December 17, 2012, at his home. Born February 10, 1922, in Spartanburg, he was the son of the late John Harmon and Erie Lancaster Reid and husband of the late Eva Mae Sutherland Reid. A World War II veteran of the U. S. Navy, Mr. Reid was also a member of Bethel United Methodist Church, and retired from Trailways, Inc. after 39 years of service. Surviving are his children, Reverend Dennis E. Reid and wife Gloria of Spartanburg, SC, Diane Burson and husband Barry of Hiram, GA, Denise Loiselle and husband Brian of Krum, TX, and Darrell Reid and wife Diana of Boiling Springs, SC; grandchildren, Jeffrey Paul Reid, Kevin Earl Reid, Timothy Craig Reid, Christi Pearson, Justin M. Reid, Erin Reid Wise, Tamera Firnbach, and Wade Harrelson; great-grandchildren, Dillon Reid, Madison Reid, Jaden Reid, Larsyn Reid, Taylor Pearson, Brooke Pearson, Evan Pearson, Benjamin Reid, Caleb Reid, and Braydon Crumpton; and a brother, Henry C. Reid and wife Nan of Palm Beach, FL. He was predeceased by a grandson, Dennis Mark Reid; brother, Fred W. Reid; and sister, Myrtle Jean Reid Spain. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday, December 20, 2012, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 PM Friday, December 21, 2012, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, by the Rev. David Smith. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the Cancer Association of Spartanburg & Cherokee County, Po box 1582, Spartanburg, SC 29304. The family is at their respective homes.
