John Quinn, Sr.

John Thomas Quinn, Sr., 82, of Wellford, died Sunday, January 15, 2012, at Mary Black Memorial Hospital. Born April 12, 1929, in Chesnee, he was the son of the late Thomas Monroe and Exie Marie Waddell Quinn. He was a 1947 graduate of Cowpens High School and retired from Draper Corporation after 30 plus years of service. John was a lifetime member of Mill Village Lodge #360 where he served as Master and was Secretary for over 30 years. He additionally served as Past Deputy Grand Master of the 21st Masonic District. He was a member of the Mary Montgomery Chapter Eastern Star #231 for 50 plus years. John was a long-time member of Jackson Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Shirley Easler Quinn; a son, Tom Quinn (Beverly) of Rutherfordton, NC; a daughter, Crissy Rogers (Mike) of Chesnee; a granddaughter, Aprel Ellison (Todd); a grandson, Derek Rogers; a great-grandson, Hunter Ellison; a great-granddaughter, Caroline Ellison; and a sister, Nettie Shaw of Spartanburg. He was predeceased by a sister, Bessie Revels, and a grandson, John Quinn, III. Visitation will be 12:00-1:30 PM Tuesday, January 17, 2012, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Graveside services with Masonic Rites will follow at 2:00 PM at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, conducted by the Rev. Jim McMakin.
